Build your own maple and cherry cutting board while learning the basics of woodworking machinery!
You’ll start with partially pre-milled lumber and learn how to cut your pieces to size with a table saw and use the jointer to create an edge joint for glueing. After the glue-up, you’ll use the planer, router, and random orbit sander to produce your final, beautiful board. Along the way, you’ll also learn how to use a square and develop proper hand-sanding techniques.
This workshop is intended for beginners, but we do recommend that you also take our Table Saw Techniques workshop, as that serves as a more thorough introduction to the workhorse of the wood shop.
Lumber selection, measuring & layout, ripping solid lumber, straightening an edge, glueing & clamping, planing to thickness, cross-cutting, routing an edge, and power & hand sanding.
