If you have some woodworking experience and a project already in mind, this is for you! Bring in your plans and materials and use our state-of-the-art equipment on a schedule that works for you. Please note: Open Shop time is for hobbyists only, not for professional woodworkers doing production work, as we have a separate fee structure for professionals. You will purchase a set of hours and come as often or as little as you like. No expiration and the more hours you buy upfront, the less expensive the hourly rate. There is no refund for these hours, so if you’re not sure that Open Shop is for you, we suggest you purchase the “Trial Run,” which is 3 hours. Open Shop will run every Thursday (with the exception of holiday periods) from 6:30 – 9:30 and occasional Saturdays. More hours will likely be available during the fall and summer. You will be asked to sign in/sign out on the workshop computer for each session you attend, so that we can track your hours. Prerequisite: Fine Woodworking Levels I and II, Woodworking Fundamentals or the demonstrated equivalent. If you’ve never taken one of our classes, you will be asked to demonstrate your skills on the machines you will be using. As our storage space is limited, the projects must be a reasonable size (as determined by staff). We also reserve the right to reject or charge more for projects that will cause undue wear and tear on our machinery.
