3D printing and other digital fabrication technologies are developing rapidly and making remarkable advances in the areas of science, medicine, manufacturing and art. We're pleased to add this to our roster of workshops.
3D printing is the process of making a three-dimensional object from a digital computer model. With easy to use software, you can now create 3D computer models of your designs and print physical objects. A 3D scanner collects data from a physical object and translates it into a 3D computer model. The hand-held Sense Scanner has the ability to quickly and easily capture data from objects as large as ten feet tall and wide.
The workshop covers the concepts of 3D printing & scanning, basic machine operations and functionality, software basics, and file formats necessary for 3D printing. You will use the Sense scanner to create a full body 3D model of yourself, ready to be printed.
If you love the workshop, you can sign up for Open Shop hours and use the digital printer at our location, under the supervision of the instructor.
